AICP certification maintenance credits will be offered for this educational walking tour led by Michael English of Tindale-Oliver and Associates, Michael Hatchett of the City of Tampa’s Economic and Urban Development, and Shaun Drinkard of Tampa Downtown Partnership. We will discuss the past, present, and future challenges and successes of the Channel District.

Come join Suncoast APA for a 2-hour mobile tour of award-winning infill projects in Sarasota, Florida: Citrus Square and Janie’s Garden! If you’re looking for a job or internship, this is a great opportunity to rub elbows with potential employers and fellow planners!
The tour begins at 4:00pm at the Citrus Square project (411 North Orange Avenue). On street parking is available, or you may park at City Hall (1565 1st Street) and walk two blocks north along Orange Avenue to the project site. Transportation will be provided from Citrus Square to the Janie’s Garden project site (1400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Way) and returning to Citrus Square. The event will finish at 6:00pm, with a Happy Hour to follow (more details to come!). 2.0 Hours of CM Credit has been applied for.
The event is a joint APA/USGBC event, sponsored by the Florida House for Sustainable Development and APA Suncoast.

[re]stitch TAMPA, an international ideas competition, is coming to a close. The competition, which launched September 1st, has seen submissions from around the world that reveal the power of ecology and landscape infrastructure to redefine the interface between a city and its river. Come join us, Friday, April 13th, 2012 to celebrate the winners of [re]stitch Tampa. Festivities will begin at 3pm with lectures from our world renowned jurors at the USF CAMLS building located at 124 S. Franklin Street. including Juhani Pallasmaa, Charle Waldheim, Chris Reed, Chad Oppenheim and Margaret Crawford. A Gallery reception will follow at 5pm in the USF CAMLS lobby, upon which the winners of [re]stitch TAMPA will be announced! Keynote lecture to follow at 7:30pm in the CAMLS auditorium.

USF SACD Urban Design studio from Spring 2011 with Tianjin University School of Architecture and Urban Design in China designs a new city for the Tianjin eco-city.
A Delegation from Tianjin, China including three professors, (one vice dean) and eight students who participated in the design workshop with USF SACD students last Spring 2011 will be at the event and presenting some of the projects they are working on.

Bridging the Bay on September 25th: A day at the ballpark with the built environment innovators of Tampa Bay
Join the Urban Charrette, the USF Urban and Regional Planning Program and the USF Student Planning Association for a day of fun and relaxation at the 25 September Rays game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Come out early and enjoy batting practice and mingle with friends as we discuss the art of the safety squeeze and the beauty of public spaces within our cities!
